Kudos to Keep the Faith for putting on this upcoming, much anticipated, gig featuring two of the soul scene’s most exciting talents on one bill. The names Sy Smith and ZO! are synonymous with quality music for the contemporary soul cognoscenti, thus the 6th March event at London’s Jazz Cafe promises to be a real highlight in 2011′s soul calendar for music lovers in the UK. As much as I loved The Foreign Exchange’s recent performances at Cargo, I was a tad disappointed that I didn’t get to hear more from both ZO! and Sy, who, nevertheless, teased us with flashes of brilliance. This imminent double-header, featuring a full-set from both artists, is therefore cause for celebration.
To mark this event, SoulCuts will be posting a track from either ZO! or Sy every day from Monday 28th until the gig on the 6th. Let us know if you have any ‘dedications’ and how you feel about ZO! and Sy’s music. In the interim, I implore all UK folk to hit the Jazz Cafe website to get tickets for this delectable evening of soul, funk and jazz from two of our scene’s shining lights. Do it quick! This one is going to sell out, no doubt! Indeed, this could be the night……..
