Confection‘s self-titled album from 2007 was a firm favourite with SoulCuts, boasting a set of 80s boogie cuts that put a broad smile on my otherwise miserable chops. As the duo’s name suggests, their music definitely doesn’t skimp on the sugar, but SoulCuts has one helluva sweet tooth. Their soulful pop delivered grooves beyond mere pastiche thanks to the quality of the songwriting, which is once more evident on their newly unleashed cut, the ridiculously catchy Save Your Precious Time. The 80s dance vibe is present and correct, replete with some synth horns!, on this new track from the Sydney based duo (Juanita Tippins and Josh Beagley) that will see me grooving into the weekend and beyond. Coming off the back of our recent discovery of Melbourne‘s wonderful Electric Empire, it would appear that there’s some hot soul down under. To paraphrase Australia‘s greatest fictional icon (excluding Harold Bishop),…now THAT’S a SoulCut!
